What It Is
Emergency tree removal is unplanned, reactive tree work carried out when a tree or limb has already failed — or is about to. It covers windblown trees, hung-up limbs, split unions, storm-snapped crowns, trees leaning onto buildings, and any tree that has become an immediate danger to people, vehicles or property. The job is to remove the immediate risk safely and quickly, then make the remaining tree stable or take it down completely.

Homeowners with a tree down in the garden or across the drive, landlords and letting agents responding to tenant reports, farms and estates with blocked access tracks, and businesses with car parks, boundaries or footpaths made unsafe by a failed tree.
When You Need It
Straight after high winds or heavy snow; when a limb is hanging and hasn't come down yet; when a trunk has split or the root plate has lifted; when a tree is resting on a roof, fence, wall or overhead cable; or when anything about a tree has changed suddenly and you don't feel safe walking under it.
Why It Matters
A partially failed tree is far more dangerous than a healthy one. Loads are unbalanced, fibres are already torn, and the next gust can bring the rest down with no warning. Emergency work removes stored energy from a damaged tree in a controlled order, using rigging rather than luck.

Full Service AreasWhat Counts As An Emergency
A tree or limb that has already failed, is resting on a structure, is blocking access, or has an obvious new crack, lean or lifted root plate. If the tree is simply overgrown or blocking light, that is planned work — usually cheaper and easier to schedule properly.
Windblown & Uprooted Trees
An uprooted tree is under tension across the whole trunk. We de-tension it in stages, section the crown off first, and only then deal with the root plate, so the trunk cannot roll or spring back into the cut.
Hung-Up & Broken Limbs
Limbs caught in the crown or half-torn from the union are lowered on rigging lines from a climbing position above the damage, so nobody works underneath a suspended load.
Trees On Buildings, Fences & Vehicles
Weight is taken off in small sections and lowered clear, so the structure underneath is unloaded gradually rather than shocked. We photograph the damage before and during for your insurer.
Power Lines & Highways
We do not work on trees in contact with live cables. Report those to the distribution network operator, who will make them safe free of charge — then we deal with what is left. Trees blocking an adopted highway should also be reported to the council.
Make-Safe Now, Finish Later
Often the right answer at 9pm is to remove the immediate danger and return in daylight to complete the removal or reduction properly, with the right kit and a written quote for the balance of the work.
Insurance Claims
Most buildings policies cover damage caused by a falling tree. We provide a written, itemised quote and site photographs so you can put a claim in — though the removal of the tree itself is often not covered, so check your policy wording.
TPOs In An Emergency
Protected trees can legally be made safe without prior consent where there is immediate danger, but the works must be limited to what is necessary and the council notified afterwards. We keep photographic evidence of the defect for exactly this reason.
After The Emergency
Once the danger is gone we can grind the stump out, reduce neighbouring trees that are now wind-exposed, and process the timber into firewood for you rather than carting it away.
How quickly can you get to an emergency?

It depends where you are and what else is on that day, but genuine emergencies across Bedford, Milton Keynes, Luton, Northampton and the surrounding counties are prioritised over planned work. After a big storm the whole county phones at once, so we triage — anything resting on a house, blocking access or hanging over a road goes first. Phone rather than email; the phone is answered outside normal working hours.
What should I do before you arrive?

Keep everyone well clear of the tree and anything it could fall on — the exclusion zone should be at least the height of the tree. Move cars if it is safe to do so from a distance. Don't walk underneath hung-up limbs, don't try to prop anything, and don't cut anything under tension. If the tree is touching a power line, phone 105 for the network operator first.
How much does emergency tree removal cost?

Emergency work is priced on the job, not a day rate, and we still give you a figure before we start. Cost depends on size, access, whether we can use a chipper on site, and how much rigging the situation needs. There are no deposits — payment by cash or bank transfer on completion.
Will my insurance cover it?

Most buildings policies cover the damage a fallen tree causes to your property, and many cover removal where the tree is blocking access or has hit an insured structure. Cover for simply clearing a fallen tree from the garden is less common. We give you a written itemised quote and photographs so you can submit a claim — always check your own policy wording.
The tree has a TPO — can it still be removed in an emergency?

Yes. Where a protected tree presents an immediate risk of serious harm, the law allows work to remove that danger without prior consent, but only as much as is necessary, and the council must be notified afterwards. We photograph the defect and the works so there's a clear record, and we can handle the notification for you.
